grid over prairie
Grid Over Prairie
sheet metal, steel grid, spray paint
26" x 33" x 7"
2011

This piece once had spongy architectural trees in the valleys. Thoughtful criticism from respected friends resulted in a blow torch induced forest fire. Less is more.

Black valley and iron grid express the dark side of man's impact on the prairie. Less than 1% of the tall grass prairie (once stretching from Texas to Minnesota) still exists. Thank goodness for the Flint Hills and for prairie restorers everywhere.
