Matfield Station
Matfield Station is a bunkhouse for Santa Fe workers build in 1924. It was the only building on the forty acre parcel we bought the property from Wes Jackson in 2001. It was in ruin, but with Pat Moss, trusty carpenter and friend from Chicago, and Harvard roommate Karl Rohlich, we restored the building - making it three units rather that ten bunk rooms. We lived in the north unit when Luke was born in 2007 and soon after moved into our new house 400 feet to the north.
Now Matfield Station is lodging for people who want to explore the Flint Hills. Visit sometime!
